Hollis + Miller History

Our firm has endured more than 70 years of history, collaboration, trials and triumphs, all leading us to where we stand today. We are proud to be one of the longest operating architectural firms in the region.

Don Hollis founds firm as Donald R. Hollis, AlA Architect in Overland Park, KS
The firm is renamed Donald R. Hollis AIA, J. David Miller Associate
Opened offices in Denver, CO & Council Bluff, IA. Construction finishes on KU's Lewis Hall
Don and Leah Hollis are killed in a small plane crash in South America during a mission trip
HMA adds its first interiors employee
Firm adopts a new logo and new name: Hollis + Miller Architects
Firm opens an office in Castle Rock, CO
Firm celebrates 70 years in business and moves to fully remote work navigating Covid Pandemic
Dave Miller begins as the first full-time employee in June
Bob Hollis joins the team; firm receives first $IM job for Meadowbrook Jr. High in Shawnee Mission, KS
HMA is incorporated as a “C” corporation in Nebraska (Kansas had no corporate laws yet)
