ON THE BOARDS

Kansas State University-Morris Family Multicultural Student Center

Manhattan, Kansas

  • New Construction
  • 13,000 SF
  • $5 Million

Students, faculty and staff will come together for reflection, education and action at this new multicultural center, located in the heart of campus.

Kansas State University’s more than 30 multicultural organizations, serving around 4,000 students, will have a home on campus where they can meet and invite their peers to be immersed in cultural experiences. This new facility will bring an urban feel to the existing campus fabric, while staying true to the native Kansas materials already established. The multicultural center encourages pedestrian interaction, creating natural pathways from the rest of campus.

Multicultural student organizations often have legacy pieces, so storage facilities for these important items will be incorporated. These organizations enjoy cooking traditional meals as a way of sharing their culture with the rest of the campus population, so a kitchen will be included so they can prepare these dishes to share with their student peers.

This space will impact the entire campus, giving these vital student organizations the space they need to enrich lives and advance student success, diversity, social justice and inclusion.
